NASCAR is in Indy this weekend, and
that means someone will kiss the bricks at the "big" track, while a lot of
beating and banging will go on at the nearby "short" track. Meanwhile, the
IndyCars head north to Edmonton, Canada for the first time.

It's a weekend off for the NASCAR
Sprint Cup Series, but the Nationwide Series hits the track at Gateway, while
the Craftsman Truck Series makes a visit to Kentucky. The IndyCars motor into
Mid-Ohio for the second time, and Formula One revs it up in Hockenheim,
Germany.

| Busch a ways to go before reaching record
With seven victories in 19 Sprint Cup
Series races this season, Kyle Busch is making a bid towards tying, or perhaps
breaking, the NASCAR modern-era record of 13 wins in a season, set by Richard
Petty in 1975 and Jeff Gordon in 1998.

| Newman, Penske parting ways after season
Ryan Newman, the 2008 Daytona 500 winner,
became a free agent in the Sprint Cup Series. Newman and Penske Racing
announced Monday they have mutually agreed to move in new directions at the
end of the season.

| Busch shines at Chicagoland again
Kyle Busch passed Jimmie Johnson on the
second to last lap to win Saturday night's LifeLock.com 400 Sprint Cup Series
race at the Chicagoland Speedway. The No.18 Joe Gibbs Racing Toyota driver
finished 0.159 seconds ahead of Johnson.

| Cup qualifying cancelled at Chicagoland
Persistent rain forced NASCAR officials to
cancel qualifying for the LifeLock.com 400 at the Chicagoland Speedway. Rain
fell on the track just after Sprint Cup practice. Officials made a valiant
effort to dry the track for qualifying, but another storm moved through the
area, giving NASCAR no other option but to pull the plug.

| Stewart joining Haas CNC as driver/owner in 2009
Two-time NASCAR Cup champion Tony Stewart
announced he'll merge with Haas CNC Racing in 2009 to serve as both driver and
owner of the newly-formed Stewart-Haas Racing.

| Stewart, Gibbs parting ways after 2008 season
Two-time Cup Series champion Tony Stewart
has been granted a release from the final year of his contract with Joe Gibbs
Racing, a move that will take effect at the conclusion of the 2008 season.

Martin Truex, Jr.'s bid for the "Chase
for the NEXTEL Cup" took a serious hit Tuesday when NASCAR slapped his No.1
Dale Earnhardt, Inc. Chevrolet team with severe penalties for a rules
violation that occurred during opening day inspection last week at Daytona
International Speedway.
